I was always one of those people who never gave my eyes a second thought. Hair? Definitely? Skin? My bag is over-flowing with oils, serums and moisturisers but eyes? I’ll worry about that when I hit 40. That was until I visited Gleneagles spa where my therapist showed me under a UV light how dry and tired my eyes were. I was horrified!

For the last 4 months I’ve been slathering on eye cream morning, noon and night to erase those dreaded dark circles that stared back at me. Although I’m lucky enough to not suffer with permanent dark peepers (unless I’ve not had enough beauty sleep!) there’s nothing wrong with taking preventative measures and these three have been my saviours!

Medik8 Dark Circles, £30.60 Feel Unique

Designed to improve the blood haemodynamics and microcirculation, Medik8’s formula lightens the eye area and helps take down any puffiness. It’s cool and thin so you don’t need a huge amount but sinks into the skin beautifully so works well with face oils and serums.

Benefit Puff Off, £22.50

I love, love, love the packaging of this product. It’s so retro and ornate, it makes me smile everytime I use it. It’s slightly tinted so gives a great base to the eye area and gives it a gorgeous light-reflecting sheen.

Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector, £29 John Lewis

As one of my favourite brands, Kiehls have come up trumps again with this mineral-enriched cream. Paraben and fragrance-free, this is gentle and soft on the delicate eye area while the licorice root extract gets to work on neutralising any darkness. The colour is light and a little chalky so you only need the smallest amount otherwise you look like a ghost!
