WHY YOU NEED TO START BOXING (YES, REALLY!)

Working for a fitness magazine your eyes are opened to all different kinds of exercise. But one I didn’t think I would venture into was boxing. The stigma of henched bald men, showing their gappy teeth and black eyes is one that’s been replaced with lean supermodels, actress’s and singers all ready to jump in the ring. So, with my gloves on and pads before me, I’m a fully fledged convert, and the results are amazing ladies!
Here’s what you need to know…
IT TONES YOUR ABS
With all that twisting motion, your torso gets a great workout and tightens in places you didn’t know existed.
IT TORCHES FAT
As it’s the ultimate HIIT class, your burning a lot of calories. Taking part in drills means that your heart rate is higher than if you went on a run
IT WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST ARMS
If you think you’ll bulk up, think again. Hello, just look at Gisele – lean, lithe and toned.
IT WILL BURN
Beware, you will hurt the day after, or in my case, two days after (gotta love those DOMS!)
YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A PRO
The great thing about boxing is that you don’t need to be an athlete to start it. It takes just two sessions to get the hang of the basics and from then on, you’ll be addicted to the high of endorphins.
GO TO CLASS
Although there’s a lot of online tutorials, try to go to a class to master the technique for the first few sessions at least
