Topshop aside, you don’t normally see a high street brand grace the catwalks of Fashion Week. But it seems that that’s slowly changing as Banana Republic took to NYFW at the weekend to debut their high fashion stance. Putting the American brand firmly on the high fashion map, is the new creative director and executive vice president of design, Marissa Webb. 

The former J Crew designer has accomplished her mission to inject a sense of youth and playfulness into an otherwise serious, grown-up brand through structured, pastel coats, oversized blazers and tongue-in-cheek motif handbags. Not to mention a flash of colour in a neon shoe, skirt hem or sleeve cuff; elements that all deserve to have pride of place on, you guessed it, the catwalk. Bravo Miss Webb!
