I’ve mastered contouring and can apply a head-to-toe tan in under 15 minutes but I still don’t feel like I’ve found the perfect tan. It still smells, it still comes off on the bedding (sorry Mr G!) and I still have to stand around in my underwear for an hour before I don’t feel so sticky.
After doing a little research I found Vita Liberta tan. Promising to deliver a non-toxic, odourless colour that lasts 2-3 WEEKS (yep, you read that right!) I had to find out more, Using natural, certified organic and Ecocert ingredients, Vita Liberta are about as luxury as it gets for a tanning brand. Which explains why Gwyneth Paltrow, Sophia Vegara, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding are super-fans of their golden hue.
THE METHOD: Scrubbing all other products off my skin, I was most looking forward to smoothing the mousse over my face-somewehere that’s super sensitive and can get dry quickly so I can see the real effects of it’s gentle contents. Although wary, I followed the instructions and resisted putting moisturiser on my face first to allow the product to work effectively. It went on light and fluffy but dries VERY quickly-amazing, yes but dangerous as you need to blend at the speed of light. And the most important bit-it IS completely odourless, which is very entertaining fooling Mr G (a self-confessed bloodhound!) Once on the skin and left for over two hours I was amazed to find that I didn’t get that tight feeling in my face and it didn’t look dry and crusty with tiny brown dots where it’s flooded pores. It was natural, hydrated and a very realistic shade.
THE VERDICT: In the morning, i was expecting to strip the bedding thanks to a brown outline of my body-a sight I’m used to in the morning. But there was nothing. Nothing! My face and body was evenly golden 9including my feet and hands-do put moisturiser here still) with only a light layer washing off in the shower. It’s been a week and although it’s not flaking, it’s not necessarily fading unevenly but it’s definitely not as fresh and I can’t take it anymore after day 8-it’s time to hit the exfoliator! But 8 days in itself is pretty impressive. What I did notice is that you have to build the colour and the bottle isn’t that big so it doesn’t last very long. But given how well my skin has reacted, I’m more than happy to buy another dose.
