WHAT ON EARTH IS EE CREAM?

Just when we thought we’d mastered the BB and CC cream, Estee Lauder have now launched an EE cream. But what exactly does it do and do we need it in our make-up bags?

Using it’s full name, the Enlighten Even Effect Skintone Corrector promises to give the customer glowing, even skintone and break down the culprits that lead to hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Estee Lauders clever scientists have discovered that our skin becomes irritated by UV rays and pollution in the day and dark spots, discolouration and other types of hyperpigmentation whilst we sleep. Delightful, right? So, they have developed a cream that contains Baicalin, which aims to minimise the visible effects of aggravation from pollution that can trigger excess pigmentation and dark spots.

Using colour correction and light-reflecting particles, the end result gives you a flawless finish without being cakey or feel as though you’re wearing foundation. It’s perfect for that low-key skincare day (mine’s Sunday!) or in the summer when you just want a hint of coverage. But isn’t that what CC creams do? Well, yes, but as it’s Estee Lauder you know it will also nourish the skin and hydrate like a moisturiser.

Are brands piggy-backing off the alphabet creams and are we, as consumers, falling for a gimmicky product? Until I give it a go, the jury’s out on this one.
