Renowned fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has announced he will be retiring from ready-to-wear after his Paris Fashion Week show to concentrate on other areas of fashion.

After almost forty-years creating both men and women’s collections, Gaultier told WWD “We looked at various possibilities considering the present state of the company and we have reached the same conclusion,Commercial constraints, as well as the frenetic pace of collections, don’t leave any freedom, nor the necessary time to find fresh ideas and to innovate.”

But fear not, the iconic designer won’t be going far, opting to develop his perfume ranges and other “various collaborations in the industry”. We can’t wait for his final bow in Paris, it’s sure to be a show we won’t forget.
