NYFW HIGHLIGHTS: PART FOUR

New York Fashion Week yesterday was all about stunning silhouettes and floaty gowns as the red carpet favourites took to the runways. Vera Wang and Rodarte showed a slightly edgier collection with masculine tailoring paired with feminine show-stoppers. Shunning the typical florals, Rodarte opted for skinny trousers teamed with knee-high lace-up sandals, chiffon blouses and off the shoulder tops.
Kate Middleton favourite, Jenny Packham, sent her girls down the catwalk in slimming midi dresses, and belted gowns with high necks in a range of blush hues and floral appliqué.
Adopting a similar theme, Badgley Mischka’s collection was a chiffon dream in a colour palette worthy of a fondant fancy. Lilacs, mochas, whites and blues were the order of the day in sparkling separates, form-fitting gowns and full-on sexy glamour, ending with Noami Campbell taking to the stage with the designers for their final bow.
Cynthia Rowley, J Crew and Polo Ralph Lauren showed a more casual collection by comparison including a colourful array of tunic dresses and quirky accessories for the new season.
Whereas Creative directors Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley favoured a more daring array of eighties-inspired separates for Marc by Marc Jacobs including polka-dot separates, over-sized slogan tees and grungy tartan.
Over at Oscar De La Renta, oversized gingham and sweet floral made this one of the designers most memorable shows. The audience sighed at the sight of laces strewn with petals against the backdrop of a flower wall big enough to rival Kim and Kanye’s. Simply breath-taking.
